From Codes to Cold Cash: The $1B Carbanak Heist
Abstract
In this presentation, Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky will discuss how a notorious and highly active cybergang hacked banks and harvest money from ATMs around the world and amassed as much as $1 billion. Based on real-life accounts from Kaspersky researchers, he will deep dive into its first known attack in Ukraine until the group reached the Asian shores, some arrests in Spain, as well as its current activities that financial institutions should be aware of.
About Yeo Siang Tiong
YEO SIANG TIONG is the General Manager for Kaspersky in South East Asia. He is responsible for a wide business of software solutions and services into consumer, SMB, enterprise and government segments. He currently manages a team of sales, presales and marketing professionals.
Over the past 28 years, Siang Tiong has held several leadership and individual contributor roles, spanning strategy, business development, channel sales and development, direct sales and various technical positions in Singapore and across the Asia Pacific.
He has worked with many infocomm vendors across technology areas like cybersecurity, big data, infrastructure, and networking. He has also led the coverage of strategic accounts in the financial sector and defence and homeland security sector and contributed to Singapore Infocomm Development Authority’s 5th Infocomm Technology Roadmap.
Siang Tiong holds an MBA (Finance) with Distinction from Manchester University and a B.Eng. (Electronics) with Honours from the University of Singapore. His interest ranges from general business to blockchain, Chinese classics and philosophy.
